two little birds

For I want to be in the light with you

In those spaces between branches

Where the rocks glow soft with moss freshly sprung

While the children gather pinecones and sing.

In those spaces between branches

Lay your head on my lap

While the children gather pinecones and sing

I’ll comb your beard with fallen twigs; braid vines around your head.

Where the rocks glow soft with moss freshly sprung

I’ll comb your beard with fallen twigs, braid vines around your head

For I want to be in the light with you.

    1. there was a sweet porch with two chairs and a table to enjoy the breeze out of the direct sun from; these birds were such a surprising sight with their plumed heads scuttling about on the ground! couldn’t believe my eyes when first saw the plumes πŸ™‚
